The approximate stages for High School implementation are as follows:
August 2008
- HS teachers issued laptops* instead of desktops
- Install LCDs into the remaining 1/3 of classrooms
- Install a complete and comprehensive wireless infrastructure High School wide
- Install a new HS network infrastructure with new servers
- Upgrade power provisions on HS campus
- Considerable teacher training in using laptops and other 1to1 tools in everyday classes (embedding 1to1 in our curriculum, assessment, and classroom methodology). Ironically, implementing a successful 1to1 program is more about the classroom than the technology.
- High School students are encouraged to bring laptops* on a voluntary basis to class
August 2009
- Students in grade 9 and 11 are required to bring laptops* for classes
High School teachers required to incorporate 1to1 learning into classes, where appropriate, for grades 9 and 11.
- Increased network server capacity.
- Grades 10 and 12 are welcome to bring laptops to school on a voluntary basis.
- ISS will also introduce a new and upgraded Learning Management System to replace Blackboard at this time.
August 2010
- All High School students are required to have a laptop* for classes
- Increased network server capacity.
*Laptop refers to Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro. Laptops other than Mac OS X will not be setup on the school network.
