Middle School

Our Middle School continues to develop the atmosphere fostered in the Elementary School of a truly international and multi-cultural family. Our small size allows us to get to know students and parents better, as well as provide more individual attention where necessary.

We are located on the Paterson Road campus alongside the Elementary School. The two schools share the facilities of the library, canteen, changing rooms, car park and small playing field. Many of our Physical Education lessons are held off campus at the excellent sporting facilities nearby and students will be transported to these venues during their PE classes.

The Middle School provides students with the opportunity to grow physically, emotionally and academically at a time of real transitions in their lives. They enter the Middle School in grade 6 as ‘children’ and move into the High School as ‘young adults’ at the end of grade 8. This is usually the period of adolescence, where many students need additional support and, for some, this can be a difficult period to negotiate. As such, our experienced and energetic faculty endeavors to foster in our students a sense of self-confidence, responsibility, respect and multicultural understanding that is an important component of their holistic education. To develop this further, we promote an understanding of personal and social development through the values of the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile.

Our curriculum offered is the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) which is a five year programme, beginning in grade 6 and continues through into High School.

For more information about our IB MYP and the subject areas taught please click here.

Admission to the Middle School is determined after a test of English Language ability which allows us to place students in the appropriate class for their level. Students who are determined as being ‘English as a Second Language’ (ESL) learners are provided with additional support in their Science and Humanities classes. Wherever possible, we also provide assistance for students with special educational needs.

Please read on through our website to find out more about some of the dynamic activities that the Middle School students participate in.
